The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) is seeking pension trustee candidates for the OPSEU Pension Trust. The appointments are effective October 1, and applications must be received by August 16.
A written test will be required, and some candidates will be selected for an interview.
“We need people who have a firm and deep commitment to the labour movement and union principles, as well as an understanding of pension plans, trustee responsibilities and the legal framework surrounding pensions,” OPSEU says, emphasizing that knowledge of DB plans in particular is required.
Generally, trustees have to meet for at least two days every two months. Expenses are reimbursed according to OPSEU policies, so the successful candidate will have to sign a letter of agreement that he or she will claim expenses only in accordance with the union’s policies.
Interested candidates should submit an application letter that includes contact information and place of employment along with a resumé to Joycelyn Martyn, an administrative assistant at the union’s pension and benefits unit. For more details, visit the union’s page.
