Michael Weeks has spent more than 20 years in human resources with the last 15 spent in fast-paced, high technology companies. He currently leads HR for Amazon Canada, where he’s responsible for building out people strategies that support the company’s rapid growth in the country. Prior to joining Amazon, Weeks led global teams with a goal of evolving HR to become data-centric and customer-focused, including developing analytics and workforce planning capability and building internal talent growth mechanisms, as well as leading numerous acquisitions and recruiting global talent. He has also partnered with various non-profit boards and organizations navigating hiring and employment challenges while serving under-privileged communities. Weeks believes companies need to constantly evolve to survive, which fuels his passion for challenging the status quo and driving change, building innovative solutions to big problems and aligning people strategy to business strategy. He’s also a believer in playing hard — when not in the office, he can be found mountain biking, skiing, paddling or golfing all around beautiful British Columbia with his family.
