The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) says it deplores the repeal of New Brunswick’s Public Service Superannuation Act (PSSA) and the introduction of a shared-risk pension plan (SRPP).
“This is bad news for our members, for the people of New Brunswick, and for all Canadians,” says PIPSC president Gary Corbett. “It is an unfair piece of legislation that fails to guarantee the retirement security of past, present and future public service employees.”
While PIPSC had attended several meetings with the provincial task force mandated to review the provincial public sector pension plan, it refused to sign a memorandum of understanding supporting the introduction of the SRPP.
The organization is currently reviewing its options in order to defend the rights of its members.
