Alex Snelling, chief people officer, McDonald’s Canada

Alex Snelling joined McDonald’s Canada as chief people officer in 2022. In the role, he works with leaders from across Canada, including McDonald’s independent franchisees, to ensure they keep people at the heart of everything they do. He develops and implements holistic strategies that uphold a safe, flexible and inclusive workplace for everyone, accelerates growth and delivers on McDonald’s purpose to feed and foster communities from coast to coast to coast. Snelling has more than 15 years of human resources and talent management experience, including four years in his most recent positions with McDonald’s Corp.

In his previous people lead role in the company’s London office, Snelling led the HR agenda across 23 markets in Eastern and Central Europe. Previously, he led talent development and acquisition initiatives across all of McDonald’s international markets outside of the U.S.

Before joining McDonald’s Corp. in 2018, Snelling was the HR director for major retailers and consumer brands like Cath Kidston Ltd., The Body Shop International Ltd. and L’Oréal across several talent management, learning and recruitment roles. He studied history at Fitzwilliam College at Cambridge University.
