The Alberta Investment Management Corp. is reporting a net return of 4.5 per cent for the six-month period ending June 30, 2023.
At the halfway point of the year, the AIMCo reported $6.1 billion in net investment income with a 5.2 per cent net investment return for its balanced fund, according to a press release.

The investment organization credited equities and the bond markets for posting gains through 2023. Despite challenges from the threat of a regional banking crisis in the U.S. and rate hike increases by central banks, global equities have held through, said the release, noting public equities currently represent 33 per cent of the AIMCo’s total asset mix.
On the other hand, private investments cooled off this year, so the AIMCo will be “highly selective in seeking long-term investment opportunities,” according to the release. Private investments represented 40 per cent of the organization’s total net assets.
