Andrew D. Knox, managing director, Franklin global real assets fund, Franklin Templeton Investments
Andrew Knox is managing director of Franklin Real Asset Advisors, co-lead portfolio manager of the Franklin global real assets funds and the chair of the Franklin global real assets investment committee. He’s responsible for ensuring the success of the Franklin global real assets strategy and its contribution to the success of its clients.
With more than 25 years of experience in the investment industry, Knox has held positions in portfolio management, research and client service within both the institutional and high-net-worth markets. Over his tenure, he has designed, implemented and managed investment solutions for a diverse client base, including pension and benefits plans, educational endowments, First Nations, foundations, family offices, individuals and corporations.
Since joining Franklin Templeton in 2006, Knox has been responsible for managing and developing institutional client relationships in Western Canada and was a member of the Franklin Templeton institutional asset mix committee since 2008. Between 2011 and 2017, he was the co-lead manager of the Franklin Templeton institutional balanced trust. In 2018, Knox joined the Franklin Real Asset Advisor team in New York as institutional portfolio manager for the Americas region. In 2019, he was appointed to the FRAA global investment committee. And in 2021, he assumed portfolio management responsibilities for the Franklin global real assets strategies.
Knox has served as a member of the Franklin Templeton pension committee for a defined contribution pension plan with 700 members and $70 million in AUM. He also serves as a member of the Franklin Templeton social infrastructure investment committee. Prior to joining the firm, he was a portfolio manager and analyst for a major Canadian investment counsellor.
Knox holds a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Manitoba. He’s also holds chartered financial analyst and chartered alternative investment analyst designations.
