Jean-Christophe Lermusiaux, managing director, global emerging markets, British Columbia Investment Management Corp.

Jean-Christophe Lermusiaux joined the BCI in 2021 to create an internal, active global emerging markets equity portfolio. He started his career as an equity research analyst in 1998, covering technology stocks in London. In 2008, he switched to emerging markets and had the opportunity to build and manage Visor Capital's research department, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. In 2014, he moved to Montreal, where he established and co-managed the Public Sector Pension Investment Board's emerging markets equity portfolio. In 2017, he joined Hexavest, where he learned a lot about top-down investing, managed the portfolio and strengthened the processes including ESG. He studied engineering (major in computer sciences/computer networks) at ECE Ecole d'ingénieurs and then finance at ESSEC in France.
