The Government of Ontario will release its budget on Thursday afternoon, and details of the province’s pension plan are likely to be part of it.
It’s expected that both employers and employees will be required to make contributions to the plan.
Ontario said it will create its own pension plan after the federal government struck down proposals to expand the Canada Pension Plan in December.
The minority Liberal government will need support from the NDP in order for the budget to pass.
The Progressive Conservatives have already announced that they wouldn’t vote in favour of the budget.
