Roughly 200 employees of the Ontario Native Women’s Association are joining the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology’s DBplus pension plan.

The ONWA is a not-for-profit organization that works to empower and support Indigenous women and their families across Ontario, according to a press release. Previously, the employees were enrolled in a group registered retirement savings plan.

“We are delighted to offer our employees across Ontario access to [CAAT’s] DBplus pension, providing them with secure lifetime retirement income throughout their retirement years,” said Cora McGuire-Cyrette, chief executive officer of the ONWA, in the release. “This reflects our commitment to Indigenous women and their families to have access to financial stability and well-being and demonstrates our continued support for our workforce as they transition into a new stage of their life as grandmothers, elders and knowledge holders.”

The organization is the latest to join the DBplus arrangement, which also includes employers such as Candu Energy Inc., Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and Global First Power.
