Quebec politician to join Caisse

A member of Quebec’s national assembly is quitting politics to join the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.

Christian Dubé, a member of the Coalition Avenir Québec, will take on the role of executive vice-president, Quebec.

He will deploy the Caisse’s investment strategy, which aims at galvanizing the province’s economy by fostering the growth and development of Quebec companies.

Dubé will sit on the Caisse’s executive committee and its investment risk committee. He will also advise it on all strategic issues in Quebec.

“Mr. Dubé has an intimate knowledge of the Quebec economy,” says Michael Sabia, the Caisse’s president and CEO. “He understands why it is imperative that Quebec companies go global—and he shares with the Caisse its sense of urgency.”

Before entering politics, Dubé worked as a director and vice-president at Cascades and previously held senior-level positions at Domtar.

“Whether it is the challenges that he successfully faced at Cascades and at Domtar or the work that he did in Quebec’s National Assembly, Mr. Dubé has always had a strong Quebec at heart,” he says. “There is no doubt in my mind that through his work at the Caisse, Mr. Dubé will continue to make an important contribution to Quebec.”
