Blair Richards is the chief investment officer for the International Longshoremen’s Association/Halifax Employers Association. Serving the longshoring industry in the Port of Halifax for more than 40 years, he’s held the position of chairman of the board, as well as chair of various sub-committees, including audit and expense, benefits, executive, governance, pensions and investments, privacy and numerous special projects. Richards was also the chief executive officer for 20 years. In 2019, he received a provincial appointment to the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia where he remains a director and chair of the investment committee.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Dalhousie University, an MBA from Saint Mary’s University and multiple certifications, including a nearly two-decade fellowship with the certified employee benefit specialist designation. As a frequent presenter, Richards prides himself on being both a teacher and a lifelong student.
