Umbra Applied Technologies Group Inc. has introduced a new paid leave program for its employees.
The defense company, headquartered in Tampa, Fla., will provide employees with up to 10 days’ paid bereavement leave to grieve an extended family member and up to four weeks of paid leave to care for a sick relative. It has also implemented a paid family sick leave of three days to take care of a family member with a short-term illness.

“UAT Group is looking to bolster its focus on corporate culture and work environment by offering a competitive benefits package with unique incentive programs and rewards, not just for the individual team member but for project teams as a collective,” said Alex Umbra, the company’s chief executive officer, in a news release.
The organization also said it intends to further expand its benefits to include short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, supplemental life insurance, personal accident insurance, a company pension plan, additional retirement and savings programs, an employee stock purchase plan, an educational assistance program, an employee assistance program and employee discount programs. An employee stock ownership plan is also under final review.
