The Ontario Expert Commission on Pensions(OECP)has assigned 17 research projects as part of its research program.

Some of the projects include: describing the coverage of occupational pension plans in Ontario, examining the performance of the Pension Benefit Guarantee Fund and compare its performance to similar schemes in other jurisdictions, mapping coverage and funding of occupational pension plans, an analysis of multi-employer pension plans, and mapping relevant pension legislation across jurisdictions in Canada and around the world.

Researchers from a number of universities and organizations will undertake the projects. These studies are expected to be completed later this year and will be made available at a date to be announced.

In May, the OECP said it would schedule public hearings to be held in the fall. To read that story, click here.
