As the real estate debate comes to a close, there have been many points raised about this ever popular asset class. With Canadian government changing the loan stipulations and housing markets gaining more stability over time, it seems like it’s safe to get on board, for now.
The proponent, Tony Politano, says that real estate has historically been a solid investment. Scot Blythe, the con participant, does agree but proves that returns don’t come easy, as we saw in 2008-2009.
Moderator, Peter S. Jarvis, executive director of the Toronto CFA Society cautioned the participants that one shouldn’t be too reasonable when discussing real estate, in his rebuttal remarks.
