Teachers’ Private Capital and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board are investing $115.1 million each to establish Actera Partners, a private equity fund focused on investment opportunities in Turkey.

“Turkey is an attractive private equity market, with a large and growing population, a high number of quality mid-market businesses, and a developing economy which is expected to benefit from becoming increasingly harmonized with Europe,” says Jim Leech, senior vice-president of Teachers’ Private Capital, the private investment arm of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

Actera Partners’ investment strategy will focus primarily on buyout and growth equity investments across a broad range of industry sectors in Turkey.

In addition, it will seek to partner with Turkish companies in order to assist in their expansion efforts outside of the country.

The fund expects to raise $383.7 million by the middle of the year.
