Never mind productivity; if you want to succeed in business it seems you have to dress the part. A survey of Canadian workers found that 37% believed those who wear casual clothes on Fridays will never make it into senior management. That should come as no surprise, as 22% said casually dressed workers were “slackers”.

At the same time, however, 48% said that wearing casual clothes on Friday made employees more productive than those wearing traditional business attire.

The survey also found that more Canadian wear casual clothes to work (40%) than business attire (35%), while 41% said their employer had a designated day or time for wearing casual attire.

But when it comes to management, there was a strong feeling (60%) that managers should always be better dressed than their staff.
