The Social Investment Organization (SIO) has named Jane Ambachtsheer, partner and global head of Mercer’s responsible investment business as the honourary recipient of the 2011 Canadian SRI Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Canadian SRI Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes those committed to the promotion of environmental, social, governance (ESG) in the Canadian investment space.
The SIO recognizes Ambachtsheer ‘s leadership and commitment to the industry, in addition to her professionalism, passion and the quality of her work.
“SIO is pleased to grant the award this year to Jane Ambachtsheer,” said Eugene Ellmen, executive director, with the Social Investment Organization. “Jane has made a huge contribution to responsible investment in Canada and around the globe through Mercer’s responsible investment consulting, as well as her pioneering work with the Principles for Responsible Investment and numerous other initiatives.”
Ambachtsheer has been instrumental in the development of the United Nations-backed principles for responsible investment (PRI) as the consultant to the United Nations responsible for coordinating the development of the principles.
In addition to her role with Mercer, she currently serves on the advisory committee of the Carbon Disclosure Project for the Americas, and volunteers on the investment committee of the Toronto Atmospheric Fund (the first Canadian endowment to sign the PRI).
