OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of the OMERS pension plan, has announced that Derek Smyth is joining its team as managing director.
“Derek has expertise as both a C-level executive at great technology companies and as a successful venture capitalist. It’s rare to find someone who has accomplished so much in both areas, and that’s what makes me really excited about welcoming Derek to our team,” said John Ruffolo, CEO of OMERS Ventures.
Prior to joining OMERS Ventures, Smyth was partner at Edgestone Capital Partners, where he co-managed two VC funds. His experience also includes former roles as president and CEO of Bridgewater Systems, and as COO of California-based Ironside Technologies Inc.
