Starbucks offers free university tuition to employees

Starbucks is offering to pay post-secondary tuition for its American employees.

Eligible part-time and full-time workers will be able to finish a bachelor’s degree with full tuition reimbursement for first- and second-year students through a collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU).

Employees working an average of 20 hours per week at any company-operated store may choose from more than 40 undergraduate degree programs delivered online.

Workers admitted to ASU as a first- or second-year student will earn full tuition reimbursement for each semester of full-time coursework they complete toward a bachelor’s degree. Third- and fourth-year students will be eligible for a partial tuition scholarship and need-based financial aid for two years of full-time study.

The employees will have no commitment to remain at the company past graduation.
