Green Shield Canada is teaming up with SmileDirectClub Inc. to deliver in-network coverage of virtual orthodontic care to its dental-plan members.
“We continue to be a leading advocate for virtual health technologies and the impact they can have on the health care experience for Canadians, especially during the ongoing health crisis,” said David Willows, Green Shield Canada’s executive vice-president of digital, innovation and brand experience, in a press release.

With SmileDirectClub’s telehealth platform, Green Shield Canada will be able to provide its plan members with access to regular virtual check-ins with Canadian-licensed dentists or orthodontists, as well as access to customer and dental-care teams — 24 hours a day, seven days a week — via phone, video chat, email or social media.
“We’re proud to announce Green Shield Canada as our first insurance partner in Canada, and are pleased to add it to our extensive list of insurance partners in the United States,” said David Katzman, the chief executive officer of SmileDirectClub, in the release.
