The union representing 60 employees at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ajax, Ont. has ratified a three-year agreement that includes retirement and benefits gains.
The agreement establishes a new group retirement program and adds a fifth week of vacation for members upon reaching 20 years of service. It also includes increases in dental and vision coverage and raises the safety shoe allowance.

“Workers in the hospitality industry suffered during COVID-19 closures and gradual re-starts,” said Corey Dalton, Local 1090 president, in a press release. “They are the backbone of many tourism and conference industries and we work hard to ensure they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
Employees will also see an annual wage increase of seven per cent in the first year and 3.25 per cent in years two and three with the new contract.
