The Ontario government is extending its paid sick leave program to March 31, 2023 to ensure employees don’t lose pay if they miss work due to a coronavirus infection.
Eligible workers will continue to receive up to $200 a day for a maximum of three days if they need to get tested, vaccinated, receive booster shots, self-isolate or care for an ill family member. The government will continue to reimburse eligible employers for the paid leave days.

The three-day sick leave policy was announced in April of 2021 as a way to limit coronavirus transmission in essential workplaces. It was originally set to expire at the end of September 2021, but the program has since been extended multiple times and was most recently set to expire at the end of July.
