Medical marijuana producer Tilray Canada Ltd. is entering into a letter of intent to become the preferred supplier for Pharmasave.
Subject to federal regulations legalizing marijuana, Tilray will supply and distribute its product through the retailer’s pharmacists. As a member-governed co-operative, Pharmasave’s reach includes 650 independently owned pharmacies in Canada.
“Tilray’s products are available in 10 countries around the world. Our products can be purchased by patients in pharmacies in each of those countries except Canada,” said Brendan Kennedy, chief executive officer of Tilray, in a press release.

“Today’s announcement puts us in a strong position to expand the availability of our products to additional patients in need throughout Canada. It’s exciting that we have the potential to bring our medical cannabis products to patients via pharmacies in Canada with a partner like Pharmasave, a company that shares our commitment to patient safety and access.”
It’s key for pharmacists to thoroughly understand the uses of medical marijuana, the release noted, as it will enable them to help achieve the best possible outcome for patients who take other medications when adding the drug to their treatment. As such, for more than a year, Pharmasave has been providing its pharmacists with educational resources to understand medical marijuana, including regulatory developments and potential medical uses and risks.
