Total hedge fund assets surged to set another record in the first quarter of 2014.
According to the HFR Global Hedge Fund Industry Report, hedge fund capital increased to US$2.7 trillion ($2.98 trillion), the seventh consecutive quarterly record.
Investors allocated US$26.3 billion of new capital to the industry in the first three months of the year.
Inflows for the first quarter were the largest since investors allocated US$32.5 billion in the second quarter of 2011.
In 2013, total inflows were US$63.7 billion.
Hedge fund assets grew by 1.1% in the first quarter of the year, with gains across relative value arbitrage and event-driven strategies.
