The Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan, OPTrust and CanWest Global have partnered with Cerberus in the battle to take BCE private, according to a newspaper report.

Reuters has confirmed that HOOPP is indeed part of the bidding group.

The Globe and Mail also reports that the telecom company’s financial advisor, Goldman Sachs, has approached billionaire Richard Li to join the Cerberus group in order to boost its buying power.

Yesterday, BCE confirmed that the private equity firm signed non-disclosure and standstill agreements to take it over.

, a consortium that includes the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. entered into discussions to take over BCE.

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has also said it’s considering making a bid for the telecom firm.
