The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has completed its purchase of interests in two Chilean water utilities.

The plan has acquired 50.8% of Empresa de Servicios Sanitarios del Bio-Bio(ESSBIO)—which continues as a publicly traded company—for $356.5 million.

It has also bought 100% of Aguas Nuevo Sur Maule(ANSM), a privately held company, for an undisclosed amount. Stakes in both companies were purchased from Southern Cross and other minor shareholders.

Teachers’ announced the acquisitions in May. The two water utilities represent 20% of regulated water and wastewater services in Chile.

Earlier this month, the plan signed a separate agreement to purchase up to 100% of Esval S.A., Chile’s third-largest water and wastewater company.

That transaction is expected to close by the end of November.
