Associate Minister of Finance Mitzie Hunter has written to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne with the latest progress report for the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan (ORPP).
While the letter mainly focuses on outlining the results achieved on key mandate priorities in 2014-15, it also covers mandates for the ORPP that are ongoing, including:
- Exploring ways to collaborate with the federal government on the implementation of the ORPP.
- Working collaboratively with Ontario’s Minister of Finance Charles Sousa in continuing to seek an enhancement to the Canada Pension Plan.
- Continued meetings and briefings with the deputy premier, minister of Economic
- Development, Employment and Infrastructure, and other partner ministers leading up to Treasury Board and Cabinet decisions.
- Actively consulting with stakeholders to ensure there is broad awareness of the benefits of the ORPP to Ontarians, businesses and, when fully implemented, the broader economy.
“Over the past year, we have made significant progress in our commitment to build a strong and secure retirement income system for the people of Ontario as outlined in my mandate letter,” wrote Hunter.
“I take great pride in the collaborative and consultative work done by the ministry to strengthen retirement income security for all working Ontarians.”
