Traditional asset allocation needs a major rethink according to John Power, Senior vice-president, U.S. Equities, Pyramis Global Advisors. He spoke to me at the 2011 Global Investment Conference, where he explained that fixed income in particular is due for a big shakeup in Canadian pension plans. Power says plan sponsors should be rethinking their fixed income allocations and possibly reducing them in favour of other asset classes with better potential for risk reduction and growth.
