The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is appointing six new managing directors in its investment division.

Maggie Fanari has been promoted to managing director of the teachers’ innovation platform and high conviction equities. Fanari was previously responsible for supporting the build of the global strategy for the innovation platform. Since joining the pension fund in 2006, she’s worked on large-scale investments in both public and private companies in multiple sectors around the world.

With almost 20 years of private equity experience, Kevin Mansfield has been promoted to managing director of consumer and retail. Since joining the Ontario Teachers’ in 2005, he’s been involved in a number of notable transactions, including Arterra Wines Canada and Helly Hansen.

Blake Sumler has been promoted to managing director of industrials. He’s worked in private equity for more than 15 years and joined the Ontario Teachers’ in 2013. Sumler’s investing background spans multiple sectors and asset classes in both public and private markets.

Ashvin Malkani has been promoted to managing director of technology, media and telecommunications, based in London, England. With nearly 20 years of private equity investing experience, he joined the Ontario Teachers’ in 2002. Malkani has been involved in a number of transactions, including Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. and North American Oil Sands Corp.

Jeff Markusson has been promoted to managing director of financial services, leading the financial services portfolio and team within private capital. Since joining Ontario Teachers’ in 2006, he’s participated in a number of investments across the industrial, business services and financial services sectors.

Terry Woodward has been promoted to managing director of health care. Since joining the Ontario Teachers’ in 2001, he’s worked on numerous investments and funds in venture capital, growth equity and private equity, including PetVet Care Centers, PhyNet Dermatology and Insight Pharmaceuticals.
