Basil Rowe is vice-president of total rewards at Sobeys Inc., responsible for leading, designing and implementing human resources policy, base salary, incentive governance, executive compensation, benefits and pension programs for 1,500 retail and distribution locations and 130,000 employes across Canada.

With more than 15 years of total rewards experience, he previously led total rewards and HR services functions at Shoppers Drug Mart and subsequently at Loblaw Companies Ltd. In these roles, he gained extensive experience in executive compensation design, mergers and acquisitions, benefits and pension administration, HR systems, HR service administration, retirement, health and safety and wellness.

Rowe holds a bachelor of arts in economics and labour relations from the University of Toronto and a master’s of business administration from the Rotman School of Management. A certified HR leader with a human resources and compensation committee certification, he’s also an advisory board member of the Greater Toronto Area Rewards Association since 2018.
