Robert Marchessault, director, pension and benefits, Bell Canada

Robert Marchessault is director of pension and benefits at Bell Canada and is a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries.Marchessault has more than 30 years of experience in consulting and management positions. At Bell Canada since 1999, he leads a team of professionals made up of more than 25 specialists in the fields of pension and benefits. The team is responsible for more than 15 pension plans worth more than $25 billion in assets, of which $3 billion is in a defined contribution plan with 36,000 members. He’s responsible for pension and benefits design, re-enrolment and communication with employees.

Among Marchessault’s main responsibilities, he participates in the development of the company's business plan, with respect to the pension and benefits strategy. He also interacts with the company's senior management and acts as an expert on various pension committees. Since November 2018, Marchessault has also been a member of the Federal Council of the Association of Canadian Pension Management.

Previously, he worked at Watson Wyatt (now WTW) as a senior consultant in pension plans, following roles in administration and actuarial work at Laurentienne Imperiale, which merged with Desjardins.

Marchessault completed his bachelor's degree at Laval University in 1993.
