Kathrin Forrest, equity investment specialist, Capital Group
Kathrin Forrest is an equity investment specialist at Capital International Asset Management (Canada) Inc., supporting both wealth management and institutional retirement with a dedicated focus on the Canadian market. Prior to joining Capital Group, she spent 17 years in multiple senior roles across Sun Life Financial. Forrest most recently served as vice-president and portfolio manager of Sun Life Global Investments, overseeing equity, fixed income and asset allocation solutions and partnering with cross-functional peers to facilitate the evolution of the organization’s product shelf. Prior to joining Sun Life Global Investments, Forrest was assistant vice-president, product and strategy at Sun Life Investment Management. She also holds a master of arts in economics and is a CFA charter holder. Forrest is an active member at CFA Societies Canada, currently serving as vice-chair on the Society’s board of directors.
Tom Keenleyside, associate director of investments, Western University
Tom Keenleyside is associate director, investments at Western University, where he provides support for the management of the University’s pension plans and operating and endowment fund. He has 25 years of experience in the financial industry and has been with the University since November 2013. His responsibilities include monitoring the University’s external investment managers and providing support for the development and implementation of asset allocation and risk management strategies. He holds a master of science degree in statistics and an honours bachelor of science degree in actuarial science, both from Western University. He is a fellow of both the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries. Prior to joining Western, Keenleyside provided actuarial support as a manager within the London Life/Great-West Life/Canada Life group of insurance companies.
Christine McCloskey-Bruno, senior total rewards manager, KPMG Canada
Christine McCloskey-Bruno is a senior total rewards manager with KPMG Canada responsible for the design and oversight of strategic total rewards programs, including compensation, retirement and benefits and other employee wellness initiatives. With almost 20 years of total rewards experience in various industries including real estate management, large scale pension funds and public sector healthcare, McCloskey-Bruno seeks to elevate total rewards programs to respond to the ever-changing needs of a diverse workforce.
McCloskey-Bruno’s goal is to ensure that total reward program offerings at KPMG provide the flexibility to meet the changing needs of all employees and to elevate the overall employee experience.
She holds a bachelor of arts with a major in anthropology and a post graduate certificate in human resource management.
Satwik Misra, director, institutional business development and client relationships, Ontario, Sun Life Global Investments
Satwik Misra joined Sun Life Global Investments in 2020. Based in Toronto, Misra is responsible for further developing and building new relationships for the firm’s growing institutional asset management business in Ontario.
He has worked in the investment and group retirement savings industry for over 15 years. Most recently, Misra led Vanguard’s pensions and retirement team in Canada where he was responsible for developing and executing Vanguard’s institutional business strategy. In doing so, he worked with plan sponsors, consultants, advisors and insurance platforms in furthering investment objectives for Canadian investors. Preceding that, he was a member of institutional distributions team at TD Asset Management, which included the promotion of investment products to DB and DC plans.
Satwik is a CFA® charterholder and holds an MBA from Ivey Business School at Western University.
Darren Patrick, managing director, relationship management, global client group, MFS Investment Management
Darren Patrick is a managing director of relationship management in the Global Client Group at MFS Investment Management. As the leader of the Canadian Relationship Management team, he works with clients across Canada and is responsible for communicating portfolio positioning and assisting them with their long‐term investment strategy. He meets with clients to share investment insights, evaluate market opportunities and discuss any investment and business‐related issues. Patrick is based in Vancouver.
Prior to joining MFS in 2015, Patrick was principal, private capital and advisory with Promerita Group. Before that, he spent eight years at Aon Hewitt in Vancouver as commercial market leader, Pacific region and senior investment consultant. He was also a consultant with Towers Watson and manager, investor relations and treasury with TELUS. He began his career in the industry in 1998 as an analyst in BMO Nesbitt Burns' Investment Banking Group.
Darren earned a bachelor of commerce degree with honours in finance and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of Manitoba. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Vancouver.
Som Priestley, multi-asset solutions strategist, T. Rowe Price
Priestly earned a bachelor of science in economics from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s of business administration from Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business. He also has earned the chartered financial analyst designation.
Ruthann M. Pritchard, institutional portfolio manager, global asset allocation, Fidelity Investments
Ruthann Pritchard is an institutional portfolio manager in the Global Asset Allocation (GAA) group at Fidelity Investments. In this role, Pritchard serves as a member of the investment management team, maintaining a deep knowledge of portfolio philosophy, process and construction, assisting portfolio managers and their CIOs in ensuring portfolios are managed in accordance with client expectations and contributing to investment thought leadership in support of the team. She is also a principal liaison for portfolio management to a broad range of current and prospective clients and internal partners, providing detailed portfolio reviews and serving as a key conduit of client objectives, requirements and marketplace insight back to the investment team. Pritchard’s focus is on target date strategies.
Prior to assuming her current position in January 2014, Pritchard was vice-president, investment consultant, in Personal Workplace Investments (PWI), a unit of Fidelity Investments, from 2006 to 2014. Before joining Fidelity in 2006, she was a vice-president at JPMorgan Asset Management and JPMorgan Retirement Plan Services from 2000 to 2006, an associate investment consultant at Evaluation Associates from 1996 to 2000 and a research analyst at Target Investors from 1993 to 1996. Previously, Pritchard worked as an associate at First Boston from 1987 to 1991 and as an analyst/associate at Goldman Sachs from 1984 to 1987. She has been in the investments industry since 1984.
Pritchard earned her bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics and mechanical engineering from Yale University. She also holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 6, 63, 7 and 3 licenses.
Adelina Romanelli, manager, responsible investing, SLGI Asset Management Inc.
Adelina Romanelli joined SLGI Asset Management in 2020. In her role as manager, responsible investing, Romanelli supports ongoing implementation and evolution of SLGI’s ESG integration efforts. She will further help build and maintain awareness of key market and competitive trends and developments with regard to ESG integration and sustainable investing and collaborate with various internal functions and distribution partners.
Prior to joining SLGI, Romanelli most recently held positions as senior consultant/product specialist at Addenda Capital Inc., where she spearheaded the launch of Addenda’s first Impact Strategy and developed a comprehensive sustainability framework for ESG-SDG considerations. Romanelli’s prior experience includes roles as portfolio manager as well as product engineer at State Street Global Advisors.
Romanelli holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in finance and international business from McGill University and is a CFA charterholder as well as a fundamentals of sustainability accounting (FSA) Credential holder.
Michael Sager, vice-president, multi-asset and currency management, CIBC Asset Management Inc.
Michael Sager is a member of CIBC Asset Management Inc.’s client portfolio manager team. He partners with all CIBC distribution channels to deliver targeted thought leadership, education and investment advice and perspective to clients and consultants.
Prior to joining CIBC Asset Management in 2018, Sager was an asset allocation consultant at Alignvest Management Corp. He was also a senior portfolio manager at the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board, a fixed income currency strategist at Wellington Management Co., head of currency research at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Putnam Investments. He was also an economist at the European Central Bank and the Bank of England.
Sager earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Warwick and a Master of Science degree (with distinction) in economics from the University of London.
Daniel Simard, strategic advisor, Bâtirente
Daniel Simard has been the chief executive officer of Bâtirente from 1996 to 2021. Since October 2021, he has served as special advisor to the executive before his planned retirement in June 2022. A retirement system intended for the affiliated unions of the confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN) and their members, Bâtirente now accounts for more than 25,000 active, inactive and retired participants. Its AUMs amount to more than $950 million.
Holder of a group-annuity representative license issued by Québec’s Financial Markets Authority, Simard is a Université de Montréal graduate in industrial relations. He has been one of the elected asset owner representatives to the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) board from launch in 2006 to 2015. He also chaired the Québec PRI Network and the PRI Francophonie Advisory committees.
Over the past 25 years he has held seats as a pension trustee and as a life insurance company director. He has been a part of the start-up team of fondaction over the first five years of the CSN’s labor-sponsored venture capital fund. He currently chairs the audit committee of a large municipal corporation’s pension fund. For nearly 20 years Simard has held varied positions within the CSN mostly in collective bargaining and labour tribunal representation.
Wylie Tollette, executive vice-president, head of client investment solutions, Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions Franklin Advisers Inc.
Wylie Tollette is executive vice-president and head of client investment solutions for Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions. In this role, his key responsibilities include oversight of client investment solution development and the portfolio management teams for our multi-asset platform. Additionally, Tollette provides strategic advisory services to institutional clients on topics such as optimizing strategic and dynamic asset allocation, enhancing the understanding of exposures and key risks and strengthening governance and decision-making. His team partners closely with the company's global distribution groups on all multi-asset solutions opportunities across a broad range of clients.
Prior to rejoining Franklin Templeton, Tollette served as chief operating investment officer at CalPERS, the largest defined benefit public pension fund in the U.S. He helped to lead initiatives focused on enhancing the portfolio and investment decision-making process, engaged the CalPERS board and various constituents and helped to redesign the asset allocation and investment strategy committee. He was also responsible for investment performance and risk analytics, investment policy, investment manager engagement, operations, compliance and business planning.
Prior to his time at CalPERS, Tollette worked at Franklin Templeton for almost 20 years, including as the head of the performance analysis and investment risk team, which was responsible for collaboratively defining, measuring and managing investment risk and performance across all Franklin Templeton products and clients. He entered the financial services industry in 1989 as an accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick.
Tollette received a bachelor of science from the University of California, Davis and a master of science in finance from the University of London. He is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) charterholder and is a member of the CFA association of Sacramento and San Francisco. He also holds a CPA (inactive) designation and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
