Derrick Johnstone is the executive director of pensions at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is responsible for overseeing the management and administration of UBC’s staff and faculty pension plans, with over 23,000 members and assets of approximately $5.4 billion.

Johnstone has 30 years of experience in financial services and over 25 years in pension management, including public and private sector pension plans. Prior to his role at UBC, Johnstone was chief executive officer for the IWA-Forest Industry Pension and LTD Plans with 70,000 members and assets over $4 billion. He holds CPA and CFA designations and earned his MBA at Simon Fraser University.
