Michael Carter, assistant vice-president of product development and sponsor experience, group retirement services, Sun Life

Anne Meloche Michael Carter is accountable for product development within group retirement services at Sun Life, including employer plans, sponsored plans and decumulation solutions.

He’s also responsible for the service experience delivered to GRS’ employer clients. Carter leads seven teams dedicated to developing, enhancing and maintaining innovative financial solutions for group sponsored plans focused on strengthening Canadian’s financial wellness and resiliency. He’s focused on establishing a suite of products and solutions for employer clients with automated savings capabilities, integrated financial advice and planning and a full suite of flexible solutions to achieve a wide range of goals. Carter is passionate about empowering Canadians to live and retire well.

Carter joined Sun Life in 2012, with progressive roles focused on developing and delivering digital and financial products and solutions across Canada. Prior to joining Sun Life, he worked at several leading Canadian financial and technology companies. He has built his career focusing on bridging client needs, business objectives and technology capabilities into industry leading solutions.

Michael has a bachelor’s of electrical engineering from McMaster University and a masters of business administration from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
