Leona Fields, director, pension fund, York University

Leona Fields works with York University’s pension fiduciaries, senior management and external agents to manage and coordinate all functions relating to the university’s pension fund. She joined York in 1999 in the newly created position of manager of pension funds. Over the course of her career, she has helped the pension investments department grow to a team of five people, supported the investment committee and the pension fund board of trustees and has overseen the growth of the pension fund to $3.5 billion.

Prior to joining York University, Fields worked in pension consulting, advising clients in areas of pension design, asset management, decision-making, risk management issues, pension governance, fiduciary requirements and investment beliefs.

Fields is a chartered financial analyst, an associate actuary and a graduate of Concordia University with a major in actuarial mathematics.
