Dr. Peter Nord, chief medical officer, Medcan

Dr. Peter Nord is the chief medical officer at Medcan, with accountability for all clinical activities across the organization. He was previously vice-president and chief medical officer at Unity Health Toronto, which brings together three large Toronto hospitals under the UHT banner.

Dr. Nord also serves as co-chair for rehabilitative care alliance, carries a dedicated care practice with Medcan and is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto, involved with teaching and research activities. He holds a certification in the College of Family Physicians and a specialty designation in sports medicine.

Dr. Nord trained at McMaster University and the University of Toronto. He went on to hold senior leadership positions in the U.S. with several health systems and was medical director for Anthem BlueCross for several years. For two years, he was president of the Flying Hospital, a non-profit international disaster relief organization.
