Ken Goldberg, award-winning roboticist, professor and William S. Floyd Jr. distinguished chair in engineering, University of California, Berkeley

Ken Goldberg is an award-winning roboticist and professor of engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where he serves as the William S. Floyd Jr. distinguished chair.

Goldberg holds joint appointments in electrical engineering and computer science and art practice at Berkeley and in radiation oncology at the University of California, San Francisco. He and his students have authored over 300 peer-reviewed papers and nine U.S. patents in robotics and artificial intelligence.

Goldberg is also the co-founder and the chief scientist at Ambi Robotics, which provides package handling robots. He also co-founded the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, the Berkeley Center for New Media and the African Robotics Network.

Outside of his academic work, he is also an award-winning artist and filmmaker. His artwork has been featured in 70 exhibitions, including the Whitney Biennial and Sundance Film Festival. Alongside his wife, Tiffany Shlain, he co-directed the Emmy-nominated short documentary film Why We Love Robots.

Goldberg holds dual degrees in electrical engineering and economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MSc and PhD from Carnegie Mellon University. He has been awarded the Presidential Faculty Fellowship and the Joseph Engelberger Robotics Award and was elected as a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
