Nick Chamie, chief strategist and senior managing director of total portfolio and capital markets, the Investment Management Corp. of Ontario

Nick Chamie is the senior managing director of total portfolio and capital markets and chief strategist for the Investment Management Corp. of Ontario, leading several functions including investment research and economics, portfolio construction, total portfolio management including liquidity, leverage and beta management, global fixed income, currency management and centralized trading.

He’s the chair of the IMCO’s research committee, responsible for deep-dive research on strategic cross-asset investment topics, and is also a member of its management investment committee, which approves all investment strategies and proposed large investment transactions.

Chamie has 30 years of experience in portfolio management, trading and research. Before joining the IMCO in 2020, he held senior leadership roles at several financial institutions, including RBC Capital Markets, Scotiabank and the British Columbia Investment Management Corp. He holds a master’s in economics from the University of Western Ontario as well as a bachelor of arts in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a chartered financial analyst charterholder.
