James Hoffner brings more than20 years of experience working with investment regulation. He began his career as a lawyer in private practice. He then practised in-house at a large financial institution. He has worked on a range of significant transactional and advisory matters concerning securities, life insurance and pensions. Hoffner joined FSRA in 2020 to support its strategic policy and supervisory activities. He has a bachelor of business administration degree from McMaster University, a master of arts from Queen’s University, a juris doctor from the University of Toronto and a latin legum magister from New York University.
