According to Center for Retirement Research (CRR) at Boston College, the number of Americans who aren’t saving enough for retirement has increased because of healthcare costs. The National Retirement Risk Index, released by the CRR, indicated that 61% of workers would be at risk of not being financially prepared to retire. Last July, that index number was 44%. This shows how increasing healthcare costs have had a considerable effect on retirement savings.

Paul Ballew, senior vice-president, customer insights and analytics, Nationwide, said that most Americans are uncertain about their financial situations and, haven’t done any kind of planning to deal with it. In the U.S. today, the personal savings rate is zero, he added.
