The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec has appointed Alexandre Synnett as its new executive vice-president of digital technology and operations.
With eight years of experience at the pension fund, Synnett was previously senior vice-president of operations; vice-president of operations for private equity, infrastructure and data management; vice-president of data management; and associate vice-president of the Caisse’s business intelligence competency centre. Prior to joining the Caisse, he held management positions at the National Bank of Canada.

“Alexandre’s appointment to lead the operations and IT group clearly demonstrates how important we believe succession is and the depth of la Caisse’s talent pool,” said Michael Sabia, president and chief executive officer of the Caisse, in a press release. “I am quite pleased that he agreed to take on this challenge to build on the last eight years of work and add to la Caisse’s capabilities, especially in terms of information management and data analytics.”
Synnett is replacing Pierre Miron, who is leaving the pension fund to become executive vice-president of information technology at iA Financial Group.
“Over the last eight years, Pierre completely overhauled and modernized our technology and operational infrastructures, enhancing their performance to support our business objectives. The remarkable job he’s done has made la Caisse even more effective and efficient by giving us the tools we need to reach our goals,” said Sabia.
“Pierre’s positive and constructive leadership has left its mark on la Caisse. He also focused on developing a pool of talent, which will ensure a smooth transition. On behalf of my colleagues and myself, I would like to thank him for all that he’s done and for the solid foundations he has built.”
