Engaged employees are better for business

Employee engagement is a key driver of better business results for small and mid-size employers.

That’s according to Queen’s University’s School of Business, which released its annual list of the 50 Best Small & Medium Employers in Canada and was conducted in partnership with Aon Hewitt.

The average engagement score for this year’s 50 best employers was 84%, the same as last year. Other participants in the study had an average score of 62%.

“Everything we see in our research shows that employee engagement is strongly connected with productivity,” says Neil Crawford, Aon Hewitt’s leader of the Best Employers in Canada study. “Engaged employees are less likely to call in sick, less likely to seek employment elsewhere and more likely to generate higher revenue. For growing companies, they can make the difference between success and failure.”

The top 10 employers in the study are as follows:

  1. DLGL, Blainville, Que.
  2. Arrow Professional Services, Scarbrorough, Ont.
  3. DevFacto, Edmonton
  4. Habanero Consulting Group, Vancouver
  5. RL Solutions, Toronto
  6. G Adventures, Toronto
  7. Cybertech Group of Companies, Edmonton
  8. Protegra, Winnipeg
  9. Advanceit, Montreal
  10. BuildDirect, Vancouver

The year’s complete list appears on PROFIT magazine’s website.
