Fired for tweeting?

Social media can be a great tool for companies, but employees who use it inappropriately may hurt their organization’s reputation and possibly lose their job, says McCarthy Tétrault.

The law firm’s Ontario Employer Advisor blog notes a couple of recent arbitration decisions involving two Toronto firefighters over their ill-advised use of social media.

Like all transgressions warranting discipline, “there is no one-size-fits-all approach to addressing the inappropriate use of social media,” writes McCarthy Tétrault associate Matthew Demeo.
