Former IIROC CEO appointed to Laurentian’s board

Laurentian Bank has appointed Susan Wolburgh Jenah to the board of directors.

An attorney by training, she is well known within the Canadian securities industry, having occupied the position of president and CEO of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada from 2008 to 2014.

Prior to that, she served as president and CEO of the Investment Dealers’ Association of Canada from 2007 to 2008, after holding senior positions at the Ontario Securities Commission between 1983 and 2007.

“Her extensive knowledge of the pertinent issues affecting the securities sector—both regulatory and development-related—constitutes a major strength and asset being brought to Laurentian Bank’s board of directors,” says a company statement.

The bank’s board comprises 13 members, five of whom are women.

Laurentian Bank became the first Canadian financial institution to appoint a female chair when it named Jeannine Guillevin-Wood to that position in 1997.
