Former Manulife CFO joins State Street

Michael W. Bell has joined State Street as executive vice-president and member of its management committee. He will also assume the role as chief financial officer in August.

Bell will replace Edward J. Resch, who announced he would retire from the CFO role in November.

Prior to joining State Street, Bell was the CFO of Manulife for about three years between 2009 and 2012. He left the insurer last year to be with his family in Philadelphia.

Before working at Manulife, Bell held senior executive roles spanning a 24-year career at Cigna Corporation including seven years as CFO and two years as president of Cigna Group Insurance.
