Derek Smyth, former managing director at OMERS Ventures and Vision Critical board member, has joined the company as chief revenue officer.
“Derek is a major player in the investment community and has a keen eye for selecting and grooming Canada’s rising stars,” says Scott Miller, group CEO of Vision Critical, a technology market research firm. “We are fortunate to have his expertise and leadership to drive our growth and capabilities to the next level.”
Smyth brings more than 20 years of experience helping companies accelerate their growth strategy as both a venture capitalist and technology executive. While at OMERS Ventures, he led numerous investments for many technology companies, including Hootsuite, Hopper, BuildDirect, Desire2Learn, Fusebill, Vidyard and others.
Prior to joining OMERS Ventures, Smyth was partner at Edgestone Capital Partners, where he co-managed two venture capital funds.
