Ron Mock, who recently retired as the president and chief executive officer of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, has been appointed a senior fellow of the C.D. Howe Institute.
“Ron has had an extraordinary career, culminating in his leadership of one of Canada’s standout pension successes,” said William Robson, president and CEO of C.D. Howe, in a press release. “We are delighted to welcome him to the C.D. Howe Institute as a senior fellow and look forward to collaborating with him across our work program.”

Mock headed up Ontario Teachers’ from 2014 to the end of 2019. While he started his career as an electrical engineer with Ontario Hydro, he shifted gears into finance, starting out as an investment dealer at Burns Fry, now known as BMO Nesbitt Burns.
“I have had a long association with the C.D. Howe Institute and have had the pleasure to have spoken at functions and contributed to their thought-provoking publications,” said Mock. “I am extremely pleased to join such an impressive and important organization.”
