Hackers attack Japan’s pension system

More than one million cases of personal data were leaked after Japan’s pension system was hacked, reports Reuters.

“Japan Pension Service staff computers were improperly accessed by an external email virus, leading to the leak of some 1.25 million cases of personal data, the system’s president, Toichiro Mizushima, told a hastily called news conference,” the news agency reports.

The records leaked include people’s names, identification numbers, addresses and birth dates.
