Manulife appoints Roy Gori as president

Manulife has appointed Roy Gori as president, effective June 5, 2017.

In the new role, he will lead the company’s Canadian, United States, Asian and investment operations.

Gori currently works as senior executive vice-president and general manager of Manulife’s Asia division. He will move from Hong Kong to Toronto to begin his new role, subject to immigration approval.

Prior to joining Manulife in 2015, Gori worked as head of consumer banking in North Asia and Australia at Citibank, where he oversaw the insurance and wealth management businesses. He has held a number of additional roles at Citibank since he joined in 1997, including chief executive officer of Citibank Australia Ltd.

As president, Gori will share his “expertise and collaborative instinct across all our businesses,” said chief executive officer Donald Guloien in a release.
