Medavie Blue Cross has appointed Marc Avaria as vice-president of product and disability management.
In the new role, Avaria will lead the development of new products for the insurer’s group and individual businesses with a focus on digital options and pharmacy benefit management functions. He will also help advance Medavie Blue Cross’ disability management business and lead the development of partnerships with clients and provider networks.

Avaria joined the organization in 2016 as vice-president of group life and disability management. Previously, he spent 15 years at Manulife Financial Corp. in a variety of executive roles, including vice-president of group small business and group benefits and pensions; regional vice-president of corporate sales; and vice president of group life and disability operations.
He also held progressively senior roles at Canada Life Assurance Co. across almost 12 years, working in its group benefits, marketing and communications, disability management and human resources businesses.
